Faith based, character-driven stories and poems.

Hi, I'm Debra! Thank you for stopping by.

Writing has always been a part of me. I’ve written and told stories and poems since I can remember. I filled all the pages in my Big Chief tablets, with words falling out of a broken pencil, sharpened with my dad’s jackknife. It’s exciting for me to meet my characters as they tell their stories of their challenges and joys in life. As a young adult raising children of my own, working out of the home and helping on our ranch, few words were written. Only a poem now and then.

In 2022 I decided it was time to get some of these words and stories out of me and onto paper again. That’s when my first book, “Louisa Bean” happened. I carried her story inside of me since I had been fifteen years old, I needed to bring her to life. I wanted to tell and show her strength and deep faith in Jesus. I tried to honor Louisa and her family with my words.

Retired now and writing almost daily, spending time with family, and traveling with my sisters on the annual Bean Girl trip has become my new career. This writing journey brings me joy and some frustrations as well, but it is good. I continually ask my Lord for inspiration and direction. He never lets me down. So I will continue on.
